AMEC signs General Service Agreement with China's Third Qinshan Nuclear Power Company

Toronto, Ontario (January 17, 2007) - AMEC, the international project management and services company, announces that its Nuclear Safety Solutions business has signed a two-year, General Service Agreement with China's Third Qinshan Nuclear Power Company (TQNPC), owner/operator of two CANDU nuclear power stations.

 

"This is part of AMEC's goal to expand its nuclear services business internationally," said Tim Watson, Chief Operating Officer of AMEC's Power & Process division. "Securing this agreement in China creates a strong foundation to build upon for further expansion of our services in this critical marketplace."

 

Under this agreement, AMEC will provide operational support services to TQNPC to assist them in maintaining their plants. excellent performance. Having developed a set of very high quality analytical and engineering capabilities through more than 30 years of supporting the operating CANDU plants in Canada, AMEC has an in depth understanding of the issues that impact plant operations.

1. Third Qinshan Nuclear Power Company (TQNPC) is the owner of the Qinshan Phase III (Third Qinshan) nuclear power station situated in Zhejiang Province, China. The two units at Qinshan Phase III (Unit 1 and Unit 2) use the Canadian CANDU 6 technology. Unit 1 began commercial operation on December 31, 2002, and Unit 2 on July 24, 2003.
